Best for frequently asked or common factual questions where a slightly paraphrased prior answer is acceptable. Not suitable when you need a guaranteed fresh answer or the exact question is highly unique or time-sensitive beyond your max_age_days tolerance.

## Known failure modes

- No cache hit: no answer close enough to the query exists — endpoint returns empty/no-match response and the caller is not charged
- Similarity threshold too high: setting min_similarity above 0.95 may result in frequent cache misses
- Stale cache: max_age_days set too low may exclude otherwise relevant answers
- Malformed query parameter: missing or empty 'q' parameter causes a validation error
- Cache cold start: for niche or rare questions, the shared cache may never have a matching entry

## How this service works

Shared answer cache: a recent cited answer to a question similar to yours (from /v1/answer) for a quarter of the price. Not charged when nothing close enough is cached.

## Output

When a sufficiently similar cached answer exists, returns the cached answer text with citations and metadata such as similarity score, the original matched question, and the cache age. If no close enough match is found, nothing is returned and no charge is applied.
