## Known failure modes

- 408 timeout when the aggregation query cannot complete within the time limit — retry with narrower filters
- Silently discarded filters when unrecognized enum values are passed for stages, freshness, scopes, or momentum — results appear normal but are unfiltered; validate slugs against the Expansion Reference endpoint
- No error returned for invalid signal_types or signal_strengths values — filter is applied and matches nothing, returning empty results
- Overly broad queries with no filters may trigger 408 due to aggregation volume
