## How to call it through Zero

Zero handles the 402 payment challenge and records the run. With the Zero CLI installed (`npm i -g @zeroxyz/cli`):

```sh
zero fetch --capability serper-google-places-search-via-serper-f222f306 -d '<json body>'
```

Example prompt: Can you find me highly-rated Italian restaurants in downtown Chicago — I need their names, addresses, phone numbers, and hours so I can decide where to book tonight?

## When to prefer this

Use this endpoint when you need structured local business data — names, addresses, phone numbers, ratings, hours — for a specific place type or query. Prefer this over the Maps endpoint when you want broader business search results rather than map-pin coordinates, and over the Reviews endpoint when you want a list of businesses rather than reviews for a single known business.

## Known failure modes

- Empty results if the query or location is too specific or misspelled
- Rate limit or quota exceeded returning a 429 or error response
- Ambiguous location causing results from wrong geographic area
- Stale hours or business info if Google data is outdated
- Missing fields (e.g. no phone or hours) for businesses that haven't claimed their listing

## How this service works

Google Places search - returns local businesses with names, addresses, phone numbers, ratings, review counts, hours, categories, and cids. Use for finding local businesses, restaurants, services. Returns cid values needed for the Reviews endpoint. Pagination billing: call the first page normally and save billing.requestId from the Orthogonal /v1/run response. For later page, offset, or cursor calls on the same logical search, pass parentRequestId with unchanged non-pagination parameters. Valid continuation calls still get their own request IDs and quoted price, but are charged 0. Changing filters starts a new billable request.

## Output

A list of local business results from Google Places, each containing business name, address, phone number, star rating, number of reviews, opening hours, and business category.

## Example request

```json
{
 "q": "coffee shops",
 "ll": "@37.7749,-122.4194,15z"
}
```
