Use this endpoint when you need structured release notes and breaking-change extraction for a specific version range of an open-source package across npm, PyPI, crates, or Go modules. Prefer it over generic web search when you want machine-readable output with breaking changes already parsed out, and over the sibling 'changes since a date' endpoint when you know the exact from/to versions rather than a date boundary.
Side effects
- Package not found in the specified ecosystem — returns error or empty result
- Version string not recognized or out of range — may return empty releases array
- No release notes available (private repo or no changelog) — releases may have empty notes fields
