Use this endpoint when you need current token prices and you know the token by its ticker symbol (e.g. ETH, BTC, USDC) rather than by contract address. Prefer this over the contract-address endpoint when working with well-known tokens. Use the historical prices endpoint if you need time-series data instead of a snapshot.
Side effects
- Unrecognized or unsupported symbol returns an error or empty entry
- Payment failure via x402 protocol blocks the request
- Malformed or missing symbols parameter returns a 400 error
- Stale price data if upstream feed is delayed
- Rate limiting if too many requests are made in a short window
