How this service works
Resolve one or more arXiv papers by id. Accepts modern ("2401.12345", "2401.12345v2") and old-style ("cs.CL/9912001") ids; "arXiv:" prefix and full abs/pdf URLs are normalised. Returns full metadata: title, authors, abstract, categories, DOI, journal-ref, comment, abs URL, PDF URL.
Output
Returns a JSON object with a results array; each entry contains the paper's arXiv ID, title, list of authors, abstract/summary, categories, primary category, DOI, journal reference, comment, abs URL, PDF URL, published date, and updated date.

Use this endpoint when you already know one or more arXiv IDs (or have arXiv URLs) and need structured, full metadata without running a text search. It is faster and more precise than a full-text search for known papers and handles ID normalization (strips 'arXiv:' prefix, full abs/pdf URLs) automatically.
Side effects
- Invalid or malformed arXiv ID returns no result or error
- Paper ID not found on arXiv returns empty results array
- More than 50 IDs submitted at once may be rejected
- Network timeout from upstream arXiv export API
- Old-style IDs (e.g. cs.CL/9912001) may occasionally fail to normalize correctly
