Prefer this over the ETH Mainnet Transaction by Hash endpoint when the transaction is on Base (L2), not Ethereum mainnet. Ideal for verifying payments, inspecting contract calls, or auditing transaction placement in a block on Base.
Side effects
- Transaction not found — returns null if hash is unknown or transaction is not yet indexed
- Invalid hash format — if hash is not 0x followed by exactly 64 hex characters, the request will fail
- Network errors or node unavailability may result in non-200 responses
- Pending transactions may return null for block number and transaction index
