Prefer this over search-based endpoints when you already have the CNPJ and need the full legal profile. Ideal for KYB (Know Your Business) workflows, supplier verification, invoice validation, and compliance checks. More comprehensive than a name search and more targeted than the bundle endpoint if you only need registration data without partners/shareholders.
Side effects
- Invalid or malformed CNPJ returns a 400 or 422 error
- CNPJ not found in registry returns 404
- Rate limiting or quota exceeded returns 429
- Data may be up to one month stale as it is updated monthly from Receita Federal
- Network timeout if the upstream Receita Federal source is unavailable
