Use this endpoint when you need a fast, cheap, privacy-safe check that a Brazilian CPF number is structurally and mathematically valid before using it in a registration, payment, or form submission. Prefer this over CNPJ validators when dealing with individual taxpayers (CPF) rather than companies (CNPJ). It does not perform a government registry lookup, so use it for format/checksum validation only — not to verify identity or check if the CPF is registered to a specific person.
Side effects
- CPF with fewer or more than 11 digits returns an invalid/error response
- Non-numeric characters in CPF that are not stripped may cause a rejection
- All-same-digit CPFs (e.g. 111.111.111-11) are mathematically invalid and will return invalid
- Network timeout or service unavailability returns an HTTP error
- Missing required 'cpf' query parameter returns a 400 or similar error
