How this service works
Shared answer cache: a recent cited answer to a question similar to yours (from /v1/answer) for a quarter of the price. Not charged when nothing close enough is cached.
Output
Returns a cached cited answer matching the query at a similarity above the threshold, including the answer text, sources/citations, similarity score to the original question, and the age of the cached response. If no sufficiently similar cached answer exists, returns a cache-miss response and no charge is applied.

It is ideal for pipelines that ask common or recurring questions, for batch agents that process similar queries, or when you want to avoid redundant LLM calls. Not suitable when you need guaranteed freshness or a highly specific answer with no tolerance for approximation.
Side effects
- Cache miss — no answer meets the similarity threshold, no charge applied
- Query string missing — returns 400 bad request
- min_similarity out of range (must be 0.7–0.99) — validation error
- max_age_days too restrictive — reduces cache hit rate dramatically
- Stale cache — cached answer may be outdated even within max_age_days
- Service unavailable — returns 5xx if cache backend is down
