Prefer it over raw HTTP fetching when token budget control matters, or when you need structured tables/metadata extracted from HTML. The BM25 budget mode is particularly valuable when you only care about a specific topic within a large page.
Side effects
- Invalid or unreachable URL returns an error status
- URL points to a page behind authentication or bot-blocking, resulting in empty or partial content
- max_tokens set too low (below 20) is rejected by schema validation
- query parameter ignored if mode is not set to 'budget'
- Raw HTML input may produce poor results if the HTML is malformed or heavily JavaScript-rendered
- Rate limiting or payment failures may block requests under x402 billing
