How this service works
Price of one crypto in terms of another -- BTC/USD, ETH/BTC, SOL/ETH, or any pair from 21+ major coins by ticker. Handles crypto/crypto pairs (e.g. how many ETH is 1 BTC worth) as well as a plain USD quote. Returns each leg's own 24h % change vs USD rather than a synthetic ratio change. From CoinGecko. $0.005/call.
Output
Returns the current price of the base coin denominated in the quote coin (e.g. how many ETH per 1 BTC), plus the individual 24h percentage change versus USD for each of the two coins. Does not return a synthetic pair change ratio — each leg's USD performance is reported separately.

Choose this endpoint when you need a live cross-rate between two specific cryptocurrencies (e.g. ETH/BTC, SOL/ETH) or a simple USD quote for a single coin, and you also want the 24h USD-relative performance of each leg independently. It is simpler and cheaper than a full market-data endpoint when you only need the pair price and directional context. Prefer it over general crypto market data endpoints when you care about the cross-rate specifically, not market cap or volume.
Side effects
- Unsupported ticker symbol returns an error (only 21+ major coins supported)
- Network or CoinGecko upstream outage may result in a 5xx error
- Passing the same coin as both base and quote returns a price of 1 with no useful change data
- Malformed path params (missing base or quote) return a 400 error
