How this service works
Daily USD price history of any token (symbol, CoinGecko id or chain:address) for up to 365 days with high, low and % change, or its exact price on a past date. Use for charts, backtests, cost basis or 'what was ETH worth on...' questions.
Output
Returns an array of daily price records for the requested token, each containing the date, USD price, daily high, daily low, and percentage change. For a single-date query using the 'on' parameter, returns the exact USD price on that date. Data is sourced from CoinGecko and covers up to 365 days of history.

It accepts flexible token identifiers (symbol, CoinGecko id, or chain:address), making it more versatile than endpoints requiring a specific format. Prefer this over real-time price endpoints when the user's question is about the past rather than the present.
Side effects
- Unknown token symbol or CoinGecko id returns a 404 or empty result
- Days parameter outside the 2-365 range returns a validation error
- Invalid date format for 'on' parameter (not YYYY-MM-DD) returns a parse error
- Token contract address with unsupported chain prefix returns an error
- Very recently listed tokens may have incomplete historical data
- Rate limiting or upstream CoinGecko outage may cause 5xx errors
