Side effects
- Date out of range (more than 31 days ago) returns an error
- ECB does not publish rates on weekends or public holidays — requests for those dates may return no data
- Invalid 3-letter currency code returns an error or omits the currency
- upstream_error: true indicates ECB data could not be fetched
- Timeout exceeded if ECB is slow to respond (max 8 seconds)
- Requesting more than 20 quote currencies is rejected
