It is ideal for stateless consistent hashing, A/B test bucketing, feature flag targeting, or load distribution where auditability (SHA-256 evidence) and no-data-retention guarantees matter. Prefer it over building your own consistent hash when you want a pay-per-call, no-signup, cryptographically evidenced result.
Side effects
- Missing required fields (key, seed, or shard_count) result in a validation error
- shard_count of 0 or negative integer may cause a computation error
- Key or seed exceeding 8192 characters will be rejected
- Payment failure via x402 protocol will prevent execution
