How this service works
Takes any of the names a medicine goes by and returns the canonical identity behind it: the RxNorm concept with its identifier and term type, the active ingredients with their own identifiers, the strengths, the dose forms, and the brand names under which the same substance is sold. Term types are expanded rather than returned as codes, because the difference between an ingredient concept, a clinical drug and a branded pack determines what an identifier can be used for.
Output
Returns the canonical RxNorm concept with its numeric identifier and expanded term type (e.g. ingredient, clinical drug, branded pack), a list of active ingredients each with their own RxNorm identifiers, available strengths, dose forms, and all known brand names under which the substance is marketed.
