Use this endpoint when you have an exact emoji name or shortcode and need to resolve it to the actual emoji character or its metadata. Prefer this over a search endpoint when the name is known precisely, as it is faster and more deterministic. If you only have a partial or approximate name, use the /v1/search endpoint instead.
Side effects
- Emoji name not found — returns an error or empty result if the name is not an exact match (use /v1/search for fuzzy matching)
- Invalid shortcode format — malformed or unrecognized shortcodes may return no result
- Missing required fields — if neither name nor shortcode is provided in the body the request will fail validation
- Case sensitivity edge cases — although described as case-insensitive, unusual capitalizations may behave unexpectedly
