Use this endpoint when you need a direct, paid, on-demand ENS resolution without running your own Ethereum node or managing RPC providers. It handles both forward (name→address) and reverse (address→name) lookups in a single call and also returns rich profile metadata (avatar, social handles, URL) that standard RPC calls require additional steps to retrieve. Prefer it over generic RPC endpoints when you want profile records alongside address resolution in one request.
Side effects
- ENS name not registered — returns registered: false with no address or records
- Malformed ENS name or address format — schema validation rejects the request
- Name registered but no records set — records object present but fields are empty or null
- Network or resolver timeout when querying the Ethereum mainnet
- Payment failure via x402 protocol resulting in 402 response before data is returned
