It is especially useful for Italian Partita IVA, German Umsatzsteuer-ID, French TVA, and other country-specific EU VAT formats.
Side effects
- Invalid or malformed VAT number format returns a validation error
- VIES service temporarily unavailable (the EU registry has documented downtime windows), resulting in a service unavailable error
