Pass query= and get ranked results: title, URL, publish date, author, relevance score. numResults=1..10 (default 5). type=auto|fast|instant. includeDomains= restricts the search. Add text=1 for matched highlights from each page (caps results at 5, priced $0.03; the 402 challenge quotes it). For agents that need what the web says today, not what a training cutoff remembers.
Output
Returns a ranked list of up to 10 web results, each containing: page title, URL, publish date, author name, and a relevance score. If text=1 is requested (capped at 5 results, $0.03/call), each result also includes highlighted excerpts matching the query from the actual page content.

Side effects
- Missing required 'query' parameter returns a 400 error
- Payment not provided or declined results in a 402 Payment Required challenge with pricing quoted
- numResults outside 1–10 range may be rejected or clamped
- includeDomains with invalid or unreachable domains returns empty results
- text=1 combined with numResults>5 silently caps results at 5
- Queries for very niche or recent content may return low-relevance results if Exa index has not crawled them
