Choose this endpoint when you need to programmatically enumerate XYZ/slippy-map tile coordinates for a geographic bounding box — for example, to pre-cache tiles, plan imagery downloads, build tile-based queries, or determine which tiles cover an area of interest. It is purpose-built for tile grid computation rather than general geospatial transforms (use sibling endpoints on geo.halowerk.com for distance, area, coordinate conversion, etc.). Prefer it over ad-hoc tile math when you need transparent method disclosure and null-safe field handling.
Side effects
- Bounding box coordinates outside valid WGS84 range (-180 to 180 lon, -85.05 to 85.05 lat) return validation error
- zoom level outside 0-22 causes rejection
- max_tiles limit exceeded silently truncates results at the specified cap
- Antimeridian-crossing bounding boxes (west > east) may not be handled correctly
- Very large zoom levels with wide bounding boxes may hit max_tiles ceiling before enumerating all tiles
