Use this endpoint when you need to programmatically retrieve the follower list for a specific Twitter/X user and are operating in an x402-enabled agent environment. Prefer this over scraping or manual lookup when you need structured follower data as part of an automated workflow, social graph analysis, or audience research task. The sibling endpoint 'Verified followers only' should be preferred if you specifically need blue-check followers.

• User reference not found — invalid handle or ID returns a 404 or empty result
• Rate limit exceeded — too many requests in a short window
• Payment failure — x402 payment not accepted or insufficient USDC balance
• Private/protected account — followers not publicly accessible, returns error or empty list
• Malformed user reference — missing or badly formatted :ref parameter causes a 400 error
