How this service works
Rodger 2008 HERDOO2 after a first unprovoked VTE. Score 1 each for hyperpigmentation, edema, or redness in either leg; D-dimer ≥250 μg/L while on anticoagulants; BMI ≥30; age ≥65 (equality scores). Max 4. low_risk is true only for women with score ≤1. Men have no low-risk subgroup in the derivation. Not a medical device and not a duration-of-anticoagulation order.
Output
Returns a HERDOO2 integer score (0–4) summed from four binary criteria (HER signs, D-dimer ≥250 μg/L on anticoagulation, BMI ≥30, age ≥65), plus a low_risk boolean that is true only for female patients with a score ≤1. Male patients always have low_risk false per the original derivation study.

Use this endpoint when you need a standards-based, validated HERDOO2 score for a female patient after a first unprovoked VTE and want a structured machine-readable low_risk flag. Prefer it over manual calculation when integrating into an automated clinical workflow or decision-support pipeline. Note: this endpoint does not compute BMI from height and weight, so the caller must supply pre-computed BMI. It is not a substitute for clinical judgment or a medical device.
Side effects
- Missing required query parameters (sex, her_signs, d_dimer_ge_250, bmi_kg_m2, age) returns a validation error
- BMI outside the 10–80 range or age outside 18–120 may be rejected or return an error
- Invalid enum value for sex (not 'female' or 'male') returns a validation error
- Non-boolean values for her_signs or d_dimer_ge_250 cause a schema error
- Payment failure (insufficient USDC balance or missing x402 header) returns a 402 response
