Prefer it over a simple search endpoint when citation provenance matters. Use it over a static knowledge base when freshness is required (news, regulations, prices, current events). Best for 1–4 source synthesis; not suited for deep multi-source research across dozens of URLs.
Side effects
- Question is too vague to produce meaningful search results — returns a low-quality or empty answer
- max_sources out of range (must be 1–4) — may return a validation error
- Live search yields no relevant results for niche or very recent queries
- Rate-limited or payment failure — endpoint returns 402 or rejection
- Network timeout if source pages are slow to load during synthesis
