Particularly useful for agents needing to validate mail setup, audit deliverability, or diagnose SMTP issues across arbitrary domains on demand. Prefer over manual DNS tools when you also need blacklist checks, DMARC/SPF/DKIM analysis, and recommendations bundled in a single call.
Side effects
- Domain does not exist or has no MX records — returns status indicating no records found
- SMTP timeout if mail server is slow or unresponsive — controlled via timeout_ms option
- Invalid domain format in target field — returns validation error
- DKIM selector not found for the specified selector name — finding returned with failure status
- Network unreachable for target host — returns error status in response
- Payment not accepted or insufficient USDC balance — HTTP 402 returned before check runs
