Output
Returns a JSON object containing the payee name match status (MATCH, CLOSE_MATCH, or NO_MATCH), the resolved BIC/SWIFT code, full bank details (name, country, address, branch), account number, and national bank code. When include_matched_payee_name is true and the result is CLOSE_MATCH, the actual matched name on the account is also returned.

Choose this endpoint when you need to confirm that a specific named individual or entity owns a given IBAN before initiating a payment — it combines IBAN validation, BIC resolution, and payee name matching in a single call. Prefer it over plain IBAN validation endpoints when fraud prevention, compliance, or beneficiary verification is required.
Side effects
- Invalid or malformed IBAN returns an error with no match result
- IBAN from a country not supported by live name-checking returns a validation-only result without payee match
- Network or bank connectivity issues may cause timeouts
- Ambiguous or shortened payee names may return CLOSE_MATCH instead of MATCH
- Missing required fields (iban or payee_name) return a 400 bad request
