Use this endpoint when you need to geolocate the machine or client making the current API call without supplying an explicit IP address — it auto-detects the caller's IP from request headers. Prefer it over batch or explicit-IP endpoints when you want self-introspection of the calling agent's network identity, including VPN/proxy/datacenter detection and ISP/ASN details.
Side effects
- IP not found in geolocation database: 'found' field returns false with minimal data
- VPN/proxy detection fields may return null if not determinable
- Caller IP may be a NAT or load balancer IP rather than the true client if headers are not forwarded correctly
- Payment failure via x402 protocol results in 402 response before geolocation data is returned
