How this service works
Search live UK Parliament data: Members (current and former MPs and Peers, by name) and Bills (by title). The only sources used are the UK Parliament's own public Members API (members-api.parliament.uk) and Bills API (bills-api.parliament.uk), both unauthenticated. Votes and Divisions data (a different API family) is out of scope for this version.
Output
Returns live data from official UK Parliament APIs including member profiles (name, party, status as current or former, MP or Peer) and bill records (title, status, stage) matching the search query

Choose this endpoint when you need live, authoritative data about UK Parliament members (MPs or Peers, current or former) or UK parliamentary bills sourced directly from the official Parliament APIs. Prefer this over general web search when you need structured, reliable parliamentary records rather than news articles or secondary sources. Not suitable for US/EU/other national parliaments, for voting records or division data, or for constituency-based lookups.
Side effects
- No results found if name or title spelling is too different from official Parliament records
- API may return partial results if the Parliament upstream APIs are slow or temporarily unavailable
- Very common names (e.g. 'Smith') may return large result sets requiring further filtering
- Votes and Divisions data is explicitly out of scope and will not be returned
- Bill search is by title only; searching by bill number or sponsor is not supported in this version
