How this service works
Neonatal glucose infusion rate (GIR, mg/kg/min) from the unit conversion used with AAP 2011 postnatal glucose homeostasis: GIR = (dextrose_percent x rate_ml_h) / (6 x weight_kg), or (dextrose_percent x rate_ml_kg_h) / 6. Provide rate_ml_h plus weight_kg, or rate_ml_kg_h, not both rate styles. Dextrose 2.5-25% and weight 0.4-10 kg are magent clamps, not AAP input bands. Reports GIR only. Does not order dextrose or TPN. Not a medical device.

Use this endpoint when you need a fast, formula-based GIR calculation for neonatal patients following the AAP 2011 postnatal glucose homeostasis framework. Prefer it when inputs are in either ml/h + weight or ml/kg/h form and the concentration is between 2.5–25% dextrose. It is a pure computation tool, not a clinical decision support system — do not use it to order dextrose, make TPN decisions, or receive dosing recommendations.
Side effects
- Missing required dextrose_percent returns an error
- Providing both rate_ml_h and rate_ml_kg_h simultaneously is not permitted — only one rate style allowed
- dextrose_percent outside 2.5–25% range rejected by clamp
- weight_kg outside 0.4–10 kg range rejected by clamp
- rate_ml_h outside 0.5–200 range rejected by clamp
- rate_ml_kg_h outside 0.5–20 range rejected by clamp
- Providing rate_ml_h without weight_kg returns an error (both required together)
- Payment failure (x402) if USDC funds are insufficient
