How this service works
Beaubien-Souligny 2020 VExUS C only (not A, B, D, or E). Caller-assigned ivc_dilated (IVC ≥2 cm) plus hepatic, portal, and intra-renal Doppler each normal, mild, or severe. Grade 0 if the IVC is not dilated; 1 if dilated with zero severe patterns; 2 if exactly one severe; 3 if two or more are severe. magent does not perform ultrasound. Not an AKI diagnosis or a fluid-order. Not a medical device.
Output
Returns a VExUS grade integer (0, 1, 2, or 3): 0 if IVC is not dilated; 1 if IVC is dilated with no severe Doppler patterns among hepatic, portal, and renal; 2 if exactly one of those three is severe; 3 if two or more are severe.

Prefer this over manual lookup when embedding VExUS scoring in clinical decision-support agents, documentation tools, or research pipelines. Not appropriate if you need to perform ultrasound interpretation, diagnose AKI, or use VExUS variants A, B, D, or E.
Side effects
- Missing required query parameters (ivc_dilated, hepatic, portal, renal) returns a 400-level error
- Invalid enum values for hepatic, portal, or renal (anything other than 'normal', 'mild', 'severe') cause validation failure
