It is the read side of the ManyLives inter-agent inbox system, best suited for polling patterns in asynchronous agent-to-agent workflows. Prefer this over webhook push delivery when the receiving agent controls its own polling schedule and needs to process messages at its own pace.
Side effects
- Invalid or missing inbox_id returns an error or empty result
- Unauthorized access if the inbox does not belong to the calling agent
- Payment failure (x402) if USDC microtransaction is not processed
- Empty result set if no new messages have arrived since the last poll
- Malformed query parameters cause unexpected filtering behavior
- Rate limiting if the endpoint is polled too aggressively
