Prefer it over a full DNS lookup endpoint when you only care about email routing, as it returns pre-parsed, provider-labeled output rather than raw DNS records.
Side effects
- Domain does not exist (NXDOMAIN) — returns no MX records and email-acceptance false
- Domain has no MX records but is not null-MX — treated as no email acceptance
- Network or DNS resolver timeout — may return an error or empty result
- Unrecognized mail provider — provider field returns null or 'unknown'
- Invalid domain format in query parameter — returns validation error
