NoJunk Geo geocode: Place name or address -> coordinates, structured address and bounding box (OpenStreetMap Nominatim).
Output
Returns a JSON object with the original query, data source attribution, and an array of results — each result containing latitude, longitude, place type, importance score, bounding box, a human-readable display name, and a structured address (city, road, state, county, country, postcode, country code, house number). Also includes a fetched_at timestamp and ODbL attribution string.

It is ideal when you need structured address output plus coordinates from a plain text place name or address, especially when feeding into the sibling /weather endpoint. Prefer this over free geocoding APIs when you want usage-based billing without subscription overhead, and over proprietary geocoding (Google, HERE) when cost per call and open data licensing (ODbL) are acceptable.
Side effects
- Query string too short or too long (outside 1–200 characters) — returns 400 validation error
- No matching location found — returns empty results array, no charge
- Ambiguous query with no country filter — may return unexpected country's result
- Nominatim upstream outage — 502 or 503 response
- Payment failure or insufficient USDC balance — 402 response, no result returned
- Rate limits from upstream Nominatim if query volume is very high
