Use this endpoint when you need to search for books by keyword and retrieve metadata including cover art and Open Library links. Best for general book discovery queries. Backed by Open Library data so it covers a wide range of published works, though ISBN and publisher fields may sometimes be null.
Side effects
- No books found matching the query — returns empty results array
- Invalid or missing query parameter — likely returns 400 error
- Payment failure (x402) — returns 402 Payment Required if USDC not provided
- OpenLibrary API unavailable — may return 503 or empty results
- Truncated results for very broad queries
