Choose this endpoint when you need trustless, decentralised read access to the Ink L2 blockchain (Kraken's OP-Stack chain) without an API key or account sign-up. Prefer it over centralised RPC providers when censorship-resistance and supplier diversity matter, or when USDC micropayment billing (pay-per-call) is more suitable than subscription plans. Prefer centralised providers if you need write access, websocket subscriptions, or archive data with complex trace calls not supported here.
Side effects
- Invalid JSON-RPC method name returns error code -32601 (method not found)
- Write methods (eth_sendRawTransaction) rejected as endpoint is read-only
- Malformed params return error -32602 (invalid params)
- Payment failure (insufficient USDC or bad x402 header) results in HTTP 402
