How this service works
Live position of one airborne aircraft from the OpenSky Network, by callsign or ICAO24 address: whether it is airborne and, if so, position, altitude, speed and heading. It does not return schedules, departure or arrival times. POST /v1/flight with {callsign} or {icao24}. Cached for 1 minute. Pay per request in USDC; no account, no API key.
Output
Returns whether the aircraft is currently airborne and, if so, its real-time position (latitude/longitude), altitude, ground speed, and heading as of the last OpenSky Network update (cached for up to 1 minute).

Use this endpoint when you need the current live position of a single specific aircraft and have its callsign or ICAO24 address. It is ideal for real-time tracking of a known flight without requiring an API key or account. Do not use it for flight schedules, departure/arrival times, historical flight data, or searching flights by route or airport.
Side effects
- Aircraft not found — callsign or ICAO24 not recognized or not currently tracked by OpenSky
- Aircraft is not airborne — endpoint confirms it is on the ground but returns no position data
- Stale data — position may be up to 1 minute old due to caching
- Invalid input — malformed ICAO24 hex string or missing both callsign and icao24 fields
- Payment failure — insufficient USDC or x402 payment protocol error
