Choose this endpoint when you need to query EVM-compatible nodes on Ethereum mainnet or Base without managing your own RPC infrastructure, and are comfortable with per-call micro-billing via x402/USDC. It exposes the full JSON-RPC surface (eth_*, debug_*, trace_*, txpool_*, etc.) rather than a curated subset, making it suitable for advanced queries like transaction tracing, mempool inspection, or raw contract calls that higher-level APIs often don't expose.
Side effects
- Invalid chain value (not 'eth' or 'base') results in an error response
- Unsupported or misspelled JSON-RPC method returns a node-level error in the rpc_response envelope
- Malformed params array causes a JSON-RPC parse error from the node
- Node downtime or network error returns a non-200 HTTP status
- Rate limiting or payment failure via x402 blocks the request
