Prefer this over a score-only endpoint when you need to act on the result (pass sanitized prompt downstream). Ideal as a security gate immediately before any paid LLM inference call to prevent prompt injection attacks from user-supplied text.
Side effects
- Missing or empty prompt field returns validation error
- Prompt too long may be rejected or truncated
- LLM backend unavailable may fall back to heuristic-only detection
- False negatives: novel or obfuscated injections may not be caught
- False positives: legitimate prompts with instruction-like language may be flagged
- Payment failure (x402) if USDC balance insufficient
