Output
Returns the REMS total score (0–26) computed by deterministic arithmetic per Olsson 2004 Table 1, summing age, MAP, heart rate, respiratory rate, SpO2, and RAPS (GCS-derived) subscores. Higher scores indicate higher predicted in-hospital mortality risk in nonsurgical adult ED patients.

Use this endpoint when you need a validated, published, deterministic Rapid Emergency Medicine Score (REMS) per Olsson 2004 for a nonsurgical adult ED patient. Prefer over MEWS or NEWS when the Olsson 2004 citation is required, or when scoring specifically targets nonsurgical adult ED in-hospital mortality rather than general ward deterioration or ICU admission. Not appropriate for pediatric patients, surgical patients, or ICU admission scoring.
Side effects
- Missing any required query parameter (map_mm_hg, heart_rate_bpm, respiratory_rate, spo2_percent, gcs, age) returns an error
- Out-of-range integer values (e.g. age <18 or >120, MAP <30 or >180) may return a validation error
- GCS must be caller-assigned 3–15; the API does not decompose eye/verbal/motor components
- MAP must be caller-computed; the API does not derive MAP from systolic and diastolic BP
- Non-integer inputs will fail schema validation
