RxNorm Drug Normalization API

Use this endpoint when you need to standardize a free-text drug or medication name to a canonical RxCUI identifier, or when you need to enumerate all branded (SBD) and clinical (SCD) drug product forms for a given drug. Ideal for healthcare applications that need to normalize user-submitted medication names before storing or comparing them, or for agents building drug lookup, drug interaction, or medication reconciliation workflows.

• Drug name not found in RxNorm — returns empty or null RxCUI
• Misspelled drug name yields no results or incorrect matches
• Ambiguous drug name may return multiple or unexpected RxCUI codes
• Network or service error returns non-200 HTTP response
• Missing or empty query parameter returns error response
