The budget+query mode is ideal when you have a specific focus question; skeleton mode works well for navigation and structure scanning; structured mode suits pages with tables or metadata. Prefer over raw web fetching whenever token cost or context length is a concern.
Side effects
- Invalid or unreachable URL returns an error status
- URL behind authentication wall cannot be fetched
- max_tokens set below 20 is rejected
- query parameter ignored if mode is not budget
- Payment required (HTTP 402) if x402 credentials not provided
- Rate limiting or timeout on slow-loading pages
