How this service works
Search French associations (loi 1901) by name in the Répertoire national des associations (RNA, Ministry of the Interior): trigram similarity on the normalised title, optional postal-code, department and position filters (active, dissoute, supprimee), top 20 with score_confiance and the RNA number to use on /v1/association/{rna}. Associations with AND without a SIREN; the legacy file (no declaration since 2009) is flagged fichier_source: import. Excludes Alsace-Moselle (local law).
Output
Returns up to 20 associations ranked by trigram-similarity confidence score, each including: RNA number (Wxxxxxxxxxxx), normalised title, position (active/dissoute/supprimee), registered office postal code, department, fichier_source flag (import for legacy pre-2009 records), and a score_confiance value. The RNA number can be passed to /v1/association/{rna} for full profile details.

Use this endpoint when you need to find a French loi 1901 association by name in the official RNA registry, especially when you have a partial or approximate name and need fuzzy matching via trigram similarity. Prefer this over direct RNA number lookup (/v1/association/{rna}) when you don't already know the exact RNA number. Choose this over general web search when you need authoritative government registry data including legal status, postal location, and confidence-ranked results. Note: does not cover Alsace-Moselle associations.
Side effects
- 400 Bad Request if the query string contains no searchable characters after stripping unsupported characters
- Empty result list if no associations match the name query in the RNA
- No results for Alsace-Moselle associations (excluded by local law)
- Partial matches only for rare or very short association names
- Legacy pre-2009 associations may have incomplete data (fichier_source: import)
- Department filter is silently ignored when code_postal is also provided
