Use this endpoint when you need detailed flight information for a specific flight identifier — particularly when you have the airline designator (e.g. TAP9035), aircraft registration, or FlightAware fa_flight_id. Prefer this over airport-based endpoints when you already know the specific flight and want its full route and timing details. Ideal for tracking a single known flight or verifying flight details programmatically without requiring an auth account.

• Invalid or unknown flight identifier returns empty flights array
• Malformed ident_type enum value returns 400 error
• Date range filters with invalid ISO 8601 format return 400 error
• Flight identifier not found in FlightAware database returns empty results
• Rate limiting or payment failure returns 402 error
• Requesting flights outside available historical window returns empty results
