Use this endpoint when you need fast, per-symbol US equity price lookups — especially when you want OHLC, high/low, previous close, and percent change in a single call. Prefer the delayed tier ($0.003) for general informational use and the realtime tier ($0.01) when live pricing is critical. Best for agents building financial dashboards, screening tools, or answering ad-hoc stock price questions for NYSE, NASDAQ, or AMEX symbols.
Side effects
- Unknown or invalid ticker symbol returns an error or empty response
- Symbol outside NYSE/NASDAQ/AMEX coverage not supported (non-US equities will fail)
- Omitting ?tier=realtime returns 15-minute delayed data by default, which may not reflect current market conditions
- Market closed periods may affect real-time quote freshness
- Payment failure (insufficient USDC balance) blocks the request via x402 protocol
