Ideal for historical research, change tracking, content audits, or reconstructing how a page evolved over time. Prefer over the availability or summary endpoints when you need multiple snapshots with direct archive links.
Side effects
- URL has never been archived — returns empty snapshot list or zero count
- Invalid date format (not YYYYMMDD) causes parameter rejection
- Limit exceeds maximum of 100 — may be capped or return an error
- URL is malformed or missing — returns 400-level error
- Wayback Machine CDX API is temporarily unavailable — upstream timeout
- Payment of $0.003 USDC not completed — x402 payment required error
