It is preferable to scraping PubMed directly and more structured than general web search for medical topics.
Side effects
- Empty query string returns an error or empty results
- Very broad queries may return incomplete or low-relevance results if max_results is not bounded
- PubMed API outages or rate limits may cause failures
- Queries with typos or unusual terminology may return zero results
- max_results set too high may increase latency or hit upstream limits
