Choose this endpoint when you need to read a webpage inside an AI agent context window at minimum token cost — especially when the source page is verbose, documentation-heavy, or JavaScript-rendered. Prefer it over raw fetch when token budget matters, LLM costs need to be managed, or when you want structured/skeleton extraction rather than raw HTML. The BM25 budget mode is particularly valuable when only a topic-relevant slice of a large page is needed.
Side effects
- Invalid or unreachable URL returns a fetch error
- max_tokens below 20 is rejected with a validation error
- BM25 query mode without a query parameter may return unfiltered content
- Rate limiting or payment failure via x402 may block the request
- Very large pages may hit internal processing limits
- Private or auth-gated pages return empty or partial content
