Use this endpoint exclusively when you need to verify that an x402 payment client, wallet, or agent can successfully sign, broadcast, and settle a micropayment against a live paid API — it is the canonical minimum-cost integration test for the x402 protocol. Prefer it over any other health-check endpoint when the goal is end-to-end payment validation rather than just connectivity.
Side effects
- Payment signing failure: client cannot construct a valid x402 payment header, returns 402 with no settlement
- Insufficient USDC balance: wallet lacks funds to cover the $0.001 charge, payment rejected
- Invalid payment token or wrong network: mismatch between client network config and server expectations
- Network/connectivity error to Cloudflare Worker: connection timeout or 5xx
- Malformed request: method other than GET returns 405
