How this service works
Buyer reclaims the credits locked in an OPEN escrow: POST {id}. Full refund to the buyer, no fee. Buyer-only. If a notarized condition is already met, releases to the payee instead (you can't cancel out from under a met condition).
Output
Returns a confirmation that the escrow has been cancelled and the full amount of locked credits has been refunded to the buyer's address. If a notarized condition was already met, the endpoint instead releases funds to the payee and returns a status indicating the cancellation was not processed.

Use this endpoint when the buyer wants to reclaim credits from an OPEN escrow before any notarized condition has been fulfilled. Prefer this over manual dispute processes or other escrow management endpoints when a clean, full refund to the buyer is the goal and no condition has yet been met on the escrow.
Side effects
- Escrow ID not found — returns 404 or error indicating unknown escrow
- Caller is not the buyer — Buyer-only endpoint, returns 403 if unauthorized
- Escrow is not in OPEN state — already settled or already cancelled, returns error
- Notarized condition already met — funds released to payee instead of refunded, returns alternate status
- Network or payment gateway error — returns 500 or timeout
