How this service works
Read one raw storage slot of a contract on Scroll (eth_getStorageAt): the 32-byte word, as a number and, when it holds one, as an address. Slot is a decimal index or a 0x 32-byte key (mapping and proxy slots). Use to inspect contract state that has no getter, owners or implementation pointers; for proxies use scroll_proxy. A malformed address or slot is rejected with 400, uncharged.

Returns a JSON object with the contract address, the slot identifier queried, the raw 32-byte hex value, the value decoded as a large integer (asNumber), the value decoded as an EVM address (asAddress, if applicable), the block number at which the read was taken, the chain name ('scroll'), and the Scroll chain ID.

Choose this endpoint when you need to read internal contract state on Scroll L2 that has no public getter — such as owner variables, proxy implementation pointers, or arbitrary mapping slots — and the target chain is specifically Scroll. For proxy contracts with structured decoding, prefer the dedicated scroll_proxy endpoint. For the same operation on Ethereum mainnet, Base, Arbitrum, Optimism, or Polygon, use the chain-specific storage slot endpoint for that network.
Side effects
